Buying a fitted sheet: what should I pay attention to?

Every French household probably has one or more fitted sheets, but for many people, finding which fitted sheet best suits the bed and the mattress is a real headache. Because the many types of fitted sheets, materials and sizes raise many questions, we are happy to give you many tips on this page to find exactly what you should pay attention to when buying the fitted sheet. Perfect cover. Everything for a beautiful night's sleep.

3 steps to the perfect fitted sheet

What is a fitted sheet? It serves to protect the mattress against, for example, body moisture. A fitted sheet should be stretched as tightly around the mattress as possible. Fitted sheets are available in many shapes, sizes and colours. Our fitted sheet shop range includes, among others, normal fitted bedsheets, mattress topper fitted sheets, split fitted sheets, split Topper fitted sheets, boxspring fitted sheets and flannel sheets. Here, we briefly walk you through the most important choices when buying the perfect fitted sheet for your mattress.

Step 1: choose the right size.

How to choose the right size?

The very first step, of course, is to determine the size. It's very simple with a fitted sheet because the size of the fitted sheet is the same as the size of your mattress. We recommend that you keep your mattress's exact length and width when purchasing a fitted sheet. The too small size means that the fitted sheet does not fit properly, so the sheet is quickly damaged. A fitted sheet that is too big, on the other hand, has the problem of being too loose, causing it to move around and making the whole thing look messy.

To give you an idea of the different sizes of fitted sheets available, we have made a practical overview for you on the right, with which you can find the right size at a glance.

Step 2: choose the right haircut.

Normal fitted sheet:

Standard fitted sheets are suitable for mattresses with a thickness varying from 25, 30, to 35 centimetres. Standard fitted sheets come in many different sizes and colours and are suitable for different beds and mattresses. Usually, most fitted sheets in France have a maximum length of 220 cm. You should always respect the size of the mattress for length and width.

Fitted sheet Mattress topper:

A fitted sheet for a mattress topper or Topper is suitable for a mattress topper. Topper fitted sheets are often used with box springs to lie even better on the average mattress. A fitted mattress topper sheet is suitable for a mattress topper up to 8 or 12 centimetres thick. If you want a fitted sheet around your mattress topper and box spring, we recommend a waterbed fitted sheet with an extra high angle.

Split fitted sheet (mattress topper):

A split topper fitted sheet also fits toppers but has a notch at the top in the middle. This separation allows one part of the mattress to be adjusted independently of the other. Split Topper fitted sheets have a corner height of 8 to 15 centimetres. In addition, we also offer fitted sheets for normal mattresses, the corner height of which varies from 30 to 40 centimetres.

Fitted sheet mattress topper with adjustable head and feet

A double split fitted sheet has been specially developed for a mattress topper with head and foot lifts. The notches in the fitted sheet allow you to adjust your bed in height without the fitted sheet coming off. These double split mattress topper fitted sheets are available with different corner heights, ranging from 8 to 12 cm in height. You must choose the correct height so that it fits your mattress perfectly.

Oversized fitted sheet.

In addition to mattress topper fitted sheets, you can also opt for mattress topper fitted sheets. These fitted sheets can cover the entire box spring and possibly the mattress topper. A box spring fitted sheet with a very high angle is suitable for a mattress with a maximum corner height of 40CM. If you only want a fitted sheet on your mattress topper, it is better to opt for a extra deep fitted sheet topper. If your bed base is adjustable, we recommend choosing a split topper fitted sheet.

Mattress cover

A mattress protector, also called a mattress protector, protects and prolongs the life of a mattress. During a night's sleep, the human body discharges a lot of water, and the amount can even reach half a litre, which the mattress protector fortunately collects. To prevent moisture from damaging your mattress, you can choose to place a mattress pad or a mattress protector around your mattress.

Step 3: The right angular height

What corner height should I choose?

Contrary to popular belief, the height of the corner of the fitted sheet is not always the same as the height of the mattress. This is because with normal mattresses, for example, there must be an additional clearance of 5 cm to fold the fitted sheet neatly under the mattress. The product description usually indicates the fitted sheet's corner height and the mattress's maximum height. So when ordering, make sure the corner height is correct before ordering the fitted sheet. Below we indicate what you should pay attention to the per type of mattress about the height of the wedge.

Standard fitted sheet

The corner height of a fitted sheet should always be at least 5 cm higher than the thickness of the mattress. The fitted sheet must be able to be pulled 5 cm under the mattress. Do you have a 30cm thick mattress? Choose a fitted sheet with a corner height of 35 cm.

Fitted Sheet for Mattress Topper

With Topper fitted sheets it's slightly different from regular fitted sheets. Here you need to choose the same wedge height as the thickness of the mattress topper. So, for example, if you have a mattress with a thickness of 10 cm, choose a fitted sheet with a corner height of 10 cm.

Fitted sheet Large Bonnet

A fitted sheet for a waterbed and a fitted sheet for a box spring are the same products. These both have a corner height of 40 cm. These fitted sheets are also suitable for mattresses with a thickness of 35 cm.
